What is MS Word?

Microsoft Word is a word processing software used to type letters, stories, projects, and documents on a computer.

Main Parts of MS Word:

Title Bar – Shows the file name.

Quick Access Toolbar – Save, Undo, Redo buttons.

Ribbon – Contains tabs like Home, Insert, Design.

Document Area – Where we type text.

Status Bar – Shows page number and word count.

Typing letters

Making school projects

Creating notices

Designing greeting cards

Making tables

Basic Tools (Home Tab)

Bold (B) – Makes text dark

Italic (I) – Slants text

Underline (U) – Draws a line under text

Font Size – Makes text big or small

Font Color – Changes text color

Steps to Start MS Word

Click Start Button

Click All Programs

Click Microsoft Office

Click Microsoft Word
Steps to Save a File

Click File

Click Save As

Choose location

Type file name

Click Save

Activity 1: Type and Format a Paragraph

Open Microsoft Word

Type the following paragraph:

My School
My school is very beautiful. I love my teachers and friends. I learn new things every day.

Do the following formatting:

Make the heading Bold

Change heading font size to 20

Change paragraph color to Blue

Underline the word beautiful

Save the file as: MySchool.docx

Activity 2: Insert a Picture

Click on Insert Tab

Click on Pictures

Choose any picture (school, tree, or flag)

Resize the picture

Save the document

Activity 3: Create a Simple Table

Click on Insert → Table

Insert a 2×3 table

Fill it like this:

Ali 4
Sara 5

Change table color (Design tab)

Save the file as StudentTable.docx

Activity 4: Print Preview

Click File → Print

Check Print Preview

Do NOT print (Teacher will check preview
